She Said Yes!

I get to photograph a lot of cool stuff, but today was really cool!

I got a call last week from a friend from college telling me he was going to propose to his girlfriend (of nine years!) at a vineyard in Virginia.  That's all he had to tell me- I was TOTALLY in!  I *love* being a spy and doing this sort of thing!

I asked my buddy Jessi, who is in town this week, if she wanted to come along and help me pull this off, and we were off!  Jessi and I headed out to Three Fox Vineyard this afternoon and enjoyed a tasting (their wine is insanely good, especially the reds!) before Ben and Erin got there.

When they did get there, everyone, including the owners, tried to play it cool.  It was so hard not to smile and get excited, but I knew I had to pretend I didn't know Ben!

Ben had a great plan- he got some wine for them, then they walked up a beautiful hill to a table that overlooks the entire vineyard.  Sitting there was a brand new bike for Erin- hers was stolen in DC and Ben had found one that was nearly identical.  She was thrilled, but that wasn't it :)  Ben mentioned there was something in the little bike bag... and although I was far away and hiding (I shot with my 70-200!) I could see enough to know that she was really happy! :)

Once they had a moment to take it all in, Ben waved us up and we celebrated!  It was awesome.

Ben and Erin, I am so happy for you guys!  Congrats on the engagement!

She said yes!!! :)

Love this- wine and a bike :)

Early Blossoms

On Sunday as I was walking back to my car from a shoot, I saw these beautiful blooms. I took a few minutes to take some photos before I drove home, and I'm glad I did. I am planning on making them into Polaroid transfers sometime soon.

A Wrap Up Before I Pack Up!

In less than 72 hours, I'll be packing up (ok, *I* won't be packing, the packers will be packing, but still!) my place here in Frederick and moving a whole half a mile to a townhouse... I can actually see our new place from the balcony of my current place!

With the move comes the dreaded Comcast unhooking of The Dot Com, which means I may be slow to return your e-mails for a few days.  The actual move is Thursday, but it's starting to get a bit crazy here (Overstock.com, I love you, but your boxes are HUGE and we are now sitting on said boxes to eat breakfast) and so while I'll do everything I can to get back to you asap, just know I'm running a bit behind!

That being said, here's a wrap up of my life right now...

Go Eagles! :)  As an alumnus of American U, I was very happy to hear AU made the tournament again this year- two years in a row!  Last year I was in Burma, so I didn't get to celebrate, but now I can!  Yeah, so what if they're a 14 seed?  "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!"

One of my newest album offerings is here!  Say hello to the beautiful Bordeaux!
Isn't she pretty?!
The design for this one will be clean and simple, one image on a page, you pick the border.

Lastly, an update on Mr. Gordon... he is still a puppy... very much still a puppy.  While we adore his antics and laugh so hard when he's being silly, he gets into a lot of trouble.  a lot.  Who knew eight pounds could be so naughty?  Here is a photo of Gordon after he got into something...

And here is a photo of Gordon being a very good little boy... laying on the couch with his papa, watching college basketball

Happy Birthday, Brady!

Happy 1st Birthday, Brady!!!

On Saturday I spent a rainy afternoon with one of my fave couples and their darling little one, Brady.  I photographed Denise and Jeff's wedding in 2007.  When Denise introduced me to one of the guests at the birthday party, she said I was "Brady's personal photographer." And you know what?  I totally am! :)

The shin-dig took place at the adorable Railroad Station in Fairfax Station.  The kids had an absolute blast exploring the place and playing outside on a real caboose!  Brady, happy 1st birthday and I hope to see you soon!

Wish Invites You to Bridal Tea with Anna Post!

Hey Everyone!

I'm currently in the middle of editing a couple weddings, designing a few albums, and, oh yeah- MOVING!  Joe and I are moving across the street from where we live now, so it's not a huge move, but it's still crazy.  The actual move is next week, but as you all know, a lot of stuff has to happen before the big day.

But while I'm busy busy busy, I wanted to share with you an event that Laura Auer of Wish shared with me.  I actually had lunch with Laura a few weeks ago, and I think this event sounds really fun!

She's talked about the event on her blog, so if you're interested in having tea with Anna Post, you should head on over to her site and check it out!

Dodging Diabetes 2009

Dodging for a Cure!

The Fourth Annual Dodging Diabetes Tournament was on Saturday, and I was so glad I got to be a part of it!  This was my fourth year photographing the tourney!  It's hard to believe it's been four years, but I love donating my time every year to such a good cause.

This year the event took place in Rockville and 20 teams came out to compete, have fun, and raise money for Joslin Diabetes Center.  The winners this year- The Medics!  They've been at every tourney and I was so glad to see them win.  Many of the teams have been in the tourney every year and it's so nice to see the same friendly faces every year.

Here are a few photos from the tourney!  If you're here because you participated, HI!  :)  All of the photos will be available very soon on Pictage.com... e-mail me if you need more info at MK -at- MKMcKenna.com

It was a blast being a part of Dodging Diabetes again, and I can't wait till next year- the 5th one!

This is my fave part of the game... when the whistle blows and everyone heads for the center line
